Town Officials and Emergency Operations Leaders met to discuss the progress of restoration efforts. Today, teams moved over 150 loads of sand and are still working to clear side streets on the West End of the island.
Residents and property owners coming to the island tomorrow are urged to use extreme caution navigating to your properties. There is still much sand and debris that can be hazardous. Please use caution and know that Grand Isle still has much damage and is without water and electricity. You are coming at your own risk.
Anyone coming to their properties on the West End from Bridge Side to Wisteria Lane are urged to bring a truck or SUV with 4WD capabilities. Please do not block the highway while traveling to your property.
**IMPORTANT: Military Crews have specific tasks to complete each day. It is not in their protocol to help civilians remove debris and/or sand from personal property. PLEASE ALLOW THEM TO DO THEIR JOB AND DO NOT APPROACH THEM FOR HELP WHILE WORKING.**
We do have a resource distribution center. To minimize road traffic, we are delivering supplies down every street starting at 11:00am. We have 2 convoys starting in the middle of time Island. One going towards the east end and one going towards the west end. We will have water, ice, and cleaning supplies to distribute.
There will be several blue dumpsters located around the island. These dumpsters are ONLY FOR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS.
Any debris should be placed on the sides of the road, this includes trees and branches.
Grand Isle Fire Department has issued a burn ban until further notice. Absolutely no fires in Cheniere or Grand Isle.
Once you arrive at your property please TURN OFF gas and water values. This will help us restore services.
We appreciate your cooperation and wishing everyone safe travels tomorrow. We are in this together.
