Ride the Bull 15 – The World’s Largest Kayak Fishing Tournament
August 28–29, 2026 | Bridgeside Marina | Grand Isle, Louisiana
Get ready to Ride the Bull! One of Grand Isle’s signature fishing events returns August 28–29 as Ride the Bull XVcelebrates its 15th anniversary.
Presented by CCA Louisiana, Ride the Bull brings hundreds of kayak anglers to the legendary waters of Caminada Passfor a 100% catch-and-release tournament targeting Louisiana’s iconic bull redfish.
Founded by Grand Isle charter captains Danny and Kristen Wray, Ride the Bull has grown into much more than a fishing tournament. It’s a weekend celebrating fishing, conservation, live music, Louisiana seafood, and the kayak fishing community—all on Grand Isle.
Friday, August 28 — Pre-Party
The weekend gets started Friday afternoon at Bridgeside Marina, and the public is invited to join the fun.
- 3 PM – Free kayak demos from Bonafide and Garmin
- 5 PM – Boiled shrimp dinner*
- 7 PM – Captain’s Meeting
- 8–10 PM – Free live music from Honey Island Swamp Band

Saturday, August 29 — Tournament Day
Saturday morning, anglers take to Caminada Pass in search of bull reds. Following the mandatory Rules & Safety Meeting at Bridgeside and Wakeside Marinas, competitors hit the water for the shotgun start and fish until 2 PM.
Friends and family can follow the action throughout the day with a live leaderboard powered by FishingChaos.
More Than $18,000 in Prizes
Ride the Bull XV features the largest prize table in tournament history, with more than $18,000 in prizes. First place takes home “The Ultimate Rig,” featuring a fully rigged Bonafide kayak, Garmin FORCE trolling motor and ECHOMAP GPS, YakPower electronics and rigging package, and Bazooka speaker.
Prizes extend ten places deep, with additional Ladies, Youth, and Team divisions.
Fishing With a Conservation Mission
Conservation remains at the heart of Ride the Bull. Every bull redfish caught during the tournament is weighed, photographed, and released back into the water.
Bull redfish collected through past tournaments have also played a role as brood stock for Louisiana’s redfish restocking efforts, connecting the excitement of tournament weekend with the long-term future of Louisiana’s coastal fisheries.
Make a Weekend of It in Grand Isle
Whether you’re competing or coming to watch, Ride the Bull is a great reason to spend a weekend on Grand Isle. Enjoy the beach, fresh Louisiana seafood, Grand Isle State Park, fishing, birding, and everything that makes Louisiana’s only inhabited barrier island such a special destination.
